Editorial policy
How Special Something prepares jewellery guidance, uses primary sources, labels examples and handles historical material without inventing expertise or testing.
Our aim is to help a reader make a better-informed jewellery decision. A page should answer a real practical question, distinguish evidence from interpretation and make its limitations easy to find.
Research and authorship
The first edition was prepared on 2 November 2026 with AI assistance for research, organisation and drafting. Factual checks used the sources linked on the relevant pages. Attribution to Special Something identifies the publication; it does not imply a named jeweller, a human expert panel or professional accreditation.
The site does not claim to have bought, worn, laboratory-tested or authenticated the jewellery it discusses. Diagrams and illustrations explain general ideas. They are not evidence of a former product’s dimensions or composition.
Decorative jewellery imagery is AI-generated and illustrative. It does not show verified stock, a tested product or an item sold by the former shop. Practical diagrams explain general measurements or constructions; their captions state their purpose.
What counts as evidence
For UK hallmarking and general consumer rules, we use official guidance. For gemstones and material-specific care, we use relevant specialist institutions. Manufacturer guidance can establish what that manufacturer says about its own products; it does not prove the same rule applies to another brand or an unidentified piece.
A practical checklist may combine those facts with our own reasoning. Gift suggestions, arrangements and motif interpretations are editorial ideas, not universal cultural rules or claims about what every recipient will prefer.
Dates and corrections
Article dates describe this edition’s preparation and substantive review, not the age of an inherited URL. We do not backdate new copy to suggest it was published by the former retailer. Routine site maintenance does not justify changing a content-review date.
Sources can change. Readers should check current maker instructions before acting on product-specific advice. No public correction-submission channel is currently available; the contact page states the present arrangements.
Historical links
Where an old category or information topic remains useful, a new reference page may retain its address. An obsolete product or service without a suitable replacement receives a retirement notice. We do not reconstruct specifications from a product slug, copy former retail promises or turn every missing page into a generic article.
Commercial independence
This edition contains no checkout, affiliate-link programme, sponsored placements, paid rankings or automatic links to a portfolio of other websites. Source links are included because they support or clarify the guidance. A citation is not an endorsement by the organisation linked.
Scope of the tools
The bracelet assistant performs transparent arithmetic using a measurement and an allowance supplied by the reader. It does not guarantee a fit. The gift finder suggests relevant guides, not a personality assessment or a live product recommendation. Both operate in the browser without submitting the selections to us.
